Paul’s and Christelle’s Tandem

We’ve done a few mountain bikes during the frame building courses but this is the first I built myself, and it had to be for two: Paul and Christelle who are now equipped for their off-road adventures. The frame is made of Columbus Zona tubes with a Bushnell eccentric bottom bracket in the front.

The 1x12 Sram GX transmission allowed to keep the drivetrain entirely on the right with a lovely set of Hope cranks. Hope is also the choice for hubs, brakes, bottom brackets, headset and seat post clamps. The fork is a Fox 34 with a charger (Forumslader) integrated in the steerer.

The wheels are as usual built by Matiq: Velocity Cliffhanger 27.5” with Hope Pro4 Boost rear hub and a SON 28 front hub for charging and lights, mounted with Teravail Ehline 2.3” tires mounted tubeless.

The 12-speed 10-50 cassette is made by Garbaruk (as is the funky headset top cap) to keep the drivetrain all silver and shiny. Front light is a SON Edelux DC II with a SON handlebar mount and in the rear there is a Supernova Taillight 2 neatly tucked away. Brooks C17 saddles in orange to go with the color scheme and a Ritchey WCS finishing kit.

The rear rack is built in-house with love and the paint job in “bleu orage” was done by M-Level.
