Remi’s Romanceur

It took some time and effort to get this extravagant selection of components for Remi’s new ride to Roubaix. Addressing the elephant in the room, the choice of colours was Remi’s, we added the bilams to emphasise and give the bike a classy romanceur look.

He also went for old-school downtube friction shifters (Dia Compe) which allowed to install the slick TRP RRL SR brake levers.

It’s a big bike for potentially heavy usage so we decided to go for a Columubs Max tube set for the front triangle, Zona in the rear. The fork is made from Reynolds disc fork blades and lots of love.

Wheels, as usual built in-house, are Velocity Blunt SS rims on Hope Pro4 and SON 28 hubs for 27.5x2.1” Teravail Sparwood tires.

The drivetrain is a 2x10 Sun XCD transmission powered by White Industries cranks. The all-polished TRP Spyre brakes (custom made for Schindelhauer bikes) are coupled with colourful Hope road rotors. Contact points are Hope F20 flat pedals, Gilles Berthoud Aspin saddle and handlebar tape on a large Ritchey Venturemax handlebar. The SON front and Supernova rear lights are powered through the Forumslader (hence no stop light issues). The stainless steel fenders are made in Bourgogne by Berthoud Cycles.

The paintjob was excellently executed by M-Level.
