Remi’s Trailer

One wheel trailers can be very useful but they are not easy to get right. I have tested a few trailers with the result that the forces on the rear dropouts of the frame compromised the alignment of the rear triangle. Rémi wanted to get a one-wheel trailer for his dog Tulip, so we tried to add as much strength to the rear triangle of the bike frame and the bracket of the trailer to keep the forces under control by adding a large custom made rear through axle and a re-enforcement tube on the non-drive side of the rear triangle.

The trailer has an elastomer suspension element to keep the shocks to a limit which also allows to fold the trailer for storage.

The rear wheel has an SP dynamo hub which provides juice to an additional “Forumslader” to charge devices and have independent Supernova rear lights on the trailer.

A project that pushed us to our limits with a steep learning curve. Rémi is putting it to a heavy test on long distances on all types of paths. We look at it as a proof of concept with hopefully a positive outcome in the long-run.
